The People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City has announced a full lockdown of the city until at least September 15th. As a result, the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City is unable to process routine visa appointments and can only grant visa appointment requests in extraordinary circumstances such as life and death emergencies. Given the halt in mail and commercial courier services during this time, the Consulate recommends visa applicants not to send documents or passports until after the lockdown.
The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi is also operating on a limited basis with a reduced number of appointments. Please note that if you are traveling to Hanoi from areas where Directive 16 lockdowns have been imposed or other areas identified by the government as outbreak areas, you cannot enter the U.S. Embassy and will need to reschedule your appointment after at least 14 days.
