The U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City (“Consulate”) has announced that immigrant visa applicants with scheduled appointments beginning in June 2022 must bring ALL required documents to their interview or will be TURNED AWAY and be asked to reschedule their interview appointments.

In addition to physically bringing required documentation such as birth certificates, marriage and divorce certificates, and police certificates, the Consulate will also require all documentation to be uploaded on the National Visa Center’s Consular Electronic Application Support Center (“CEAC”) portal. Immigrant visa applicants who do not  upload all required documents to CEAC will also be turned away from their scheduled appointment even if they have in their possession physical copies.

The Consulate’s new policy appears to be a departure from its earlier policy which was more lenient and allowed for immigrant visa applicants who are missing certain documents at the time of interview, such as a valid passport or an unexpired police certificate, to submit those documents at a later date through administrative processing.
