Following the resumption of limited immigrant visa processing on June 29th, the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi and the U.S. Consulate in Ho Chi Minh City will resume partial non-immigrant visa processing beginning July 15th. Applicants applying for the following visas will be allowed to schedule appointments:
- F-1 student visas;
- M-1 vocational visas;
- J-1 visas (alien physician, government visitor, international visitor, research scholar, secondary school and university exchange student) but not J-1 intercultural exchange applying as interns, trainees, teachers, camp counselors, au pairs, and summer work travel programs because these come under Trump’s immigration ban;
- C-1/D crewmember visas;
- E treaty trader and investors;
- O extraordinary ability visas; and
- P athletes and artists.
F-1 student visa applicants whose classes are 100 percent online will not qualify for a student visa. Interviews for all other non-immigrant visa categories including B-1/ B-2 visitor visas remain suspended.
