President-Elect Trump’s Mass Deportation Begins to Take Hold

During the 2024 campaign,  former president and candidate Donald J. Trump promised mass deportation for millions on undocumented migrants in the United States. It appears that the campaign pledges are beginning to take hold.

Last week, President-elect Trump named Thomas Homan as the “Border Tsar.” Homan, a former police officer and immigration official who previously served during the Obama administration and the first Trump administration as Immigration and Customs Enforcement Director has made it clear that mass deportation will be effectively carried out.

“We have a mandate. I think the American people just gave President Trump a mandate. That’s why he’s elected – to secure the border, save lives, and deport people, especially national security threats and public safety threats,” said Homan.

Homan commented that the immediate focus will be those in the country illegally with criminal convictions or charges.

“It’s not going to be a massive sweep of neighborhoods. It’s not going to be a massive raid. It’s going to be targeted enforcement operations,” Homan commented of the upcoming policy once Trump is sworn in as the 47th President on January 20, 2025.

Homan warned however that anybody who is in the United States illegally is on the table. “If you’re in the country illegally, you’ve got a problem.”

Homan argues that millions of people entered the United States illegally by way of the U.S.- Mexico border and millions more entered legally but have overstayed accruing unlawful status. Homan further commented that many individuals who are in the country illegally may likely leave on their own. As for how mass deportation will be enforced, Homan said it will depend on available resources.

“It depends on resources, depends on money. But I guarantee you that President Trump means what he says and there will be a green light to enforce our laws and secure the border. And that’s going to require a mass deportation operation.”

Homan’s appointment comes days after President Biden’s Parole-in-Place program, which would have provided certain illegal immigrants with lawful permanent resident status, was struck down by a federal judge .

Enterline and Partners strongly advises those who are in the United States illegally to immediately seek legal representation.

What Is a Proxy Marriage?

Understanding what is a proxy marriage has become increasingly important for couples separated by international borders seeking options to formalize their relationship and pursue U.S. immigration benefits. A proxy marriage refers to a legally recognized marriage ceremony in which one or both parties are not physically present at the time the marriage is solemnized. While proxy marriages are not recognized in most U.S. states, certain jurisdictions do allow them under specific conditions. When properly structured and later consummated, a proxy marriage may be recognized for U.S. immigration purposes. Background of Proxy Marriages Historically, proxy marriages were most commonly used by military couples when one spouse was deployed overseas. In recent years, global travel restrictions and logistical challenges have caused many engaged couples to explore alternatives to marry despite being physically separated. From an immigration perspective, the key issue is not whether the marriage occurred by proxy, but whether the marriage

Trump Gold Card Program Legal: Does It Really Exist; Issues and Uncertainties

On December 10, 2025, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (“USCIS”) released a Form I-140G, Immigrant Petition for the Gold Card Program (“Form I-140G”) and instructions for the new U.S. “Gold Card” immigration program. The program was (presumably) created by Executive Order of President Trump on September 19, 2025.  The program does not have congressional action or approval.  Presumably Form I-140G may be completed online after applicants register at trumpcard.gov and pay the required application fee.  The Gold Card program is being introduced as falling under the Employment Based First and Second Preference visa categories (EB-1 and EB-2). While the release of the Form I-140G provides some insight into how the program is intended to operate, the American Immigration Lawyers Association (“AILA”) has identified numerous ambiguities and structural concerns that raise questions about statutory consistency, procedural fairness, and practical implementation. One significant issue involves the donation requirement for derivative family
